Best Cricketer in the month of January 2013
If we looked into the January 2013 for the top cricket performance of a best cricketer we will find so many impressive efforts in all formats of International cricket and Twenty20 league cricket, but near to CRIC, the brilliance of Suresh Raina proved to be the most vigorous of all.
In January 2013, players delivered numerous inspiring performances that created many breathtaking moments. We saw, Luke Pomersbach’s powerful hitting in BBL season 2, Nowan Kulusekera was knocking out the stumps in the ODIs and T20Is against Australia, all-round performance of Ryon Mclaren on the New Zealand’s tour of South Africa, and promising batting of Shamsur Rehman and Brandon Taylor along with the stunning all-round cricket in pressure situations of Azhar Mahmood and Elton Chigumbura in BPL season 2. But an astonishing display of cricket produced by Suresh Raina came in the ODI series between India and England.
In five match series, Raina scored four consecutive half centuries in his four innings in which two of them were match winning. He contributed 277 runs with the strike rate of nearly 100.00 in the series, and his innings consisted of 50, 55, 83 and 89*. He also took a couple of wickets and catches. Due to his consistent cricket at the middle, India managed to win home series, and he was honored with the player of the series award.
Though there were other stunning performances too but the Raina’s knock was the best and meaningful. Therefore, without any doubt, he was the best cricketer of the month of January 2013, and we hope to see more from him, and will keep our fingers crossed for others.
